Set out on a journey across New Zealand’s awe-inspiring volcanic zone, starting with a flight over the iconic Mt. Tarawera and the rising sulphuric steam of Waimangu Thermal Valley below. Venturing further south, you’ll have front-row seats to see the vibrant hues of Rainbow Mountain and the wonders of Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland before a bird’s eye view of the epic Huka Falls.
As we ascend to 10,000 feet, you’ll witness the vast expanse of Lake Taupo, created by a supervolcanic eruption 26,000 years ago. Next up is Mt Ngauruhoe, the ancient landscapes of Mt Tongariro, and the imposing presence of Mt Ruapehu, standing tall at nearly 2,800 metres. We then chart a course back north, moving off the coast of Whakatane to introduce you to the most active volcano in New Zealand, Whakaari/White Island.
This tour captures the very best of the North Island’s volcanic zone, which beautifully bisects the landscape, offering an experience that’s nothing short of ultimate.
